How many of you hoard beauty products by just looking at the packaging. I love anything colorful and cute when it comes to makeup. I had never tried anything from Nykaa Cosmetics line before. So, When these Nykaa X Masaba Collection got launched, I thought of picking few shades. In today’s post I am doing a detailed review on every shade that I purchased. Whether I like them or not. Is it worth buying etc. Read more to find out whether its a splurge or miss.
Gorgeous packaging, isn’t it ? Well, it’s not completely new to me. I have seen similar packaging for Sephora lipsticks, tarte as well as Paul and Joe Beaute. I love the design on nykaa ones better as they are Masaba’s creation and design is from her line of clothing! How cool is that ? I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I say I bought these just for the packaging.
Beautiful outer covers too with all shade details etc.
Masaba By Nykaa Lipstick – Cool Guy
Cool Guy is a beautiful brown tone nude shade. Perfect for a daywear/office if you want a subtle hint of color. Perfect with a smoked eye look as well. This is my go-to shade to work.
Masaba By Nykaa Lipstick – You Croc My World
This beautiful and bright rose pink color is stunning on all skin tones and it brighten up the entire look. If you love a pop of pink – this shade is perfect for you.
Masaba By Nykaa Lipstick – Kale-ing Me Softly
Not a fan of pink, Not a fan of red. Love a plum color somewhere in between. This shade is perfect for you! This pinkish plum is universally flattering. A MLBB shade for many! Love it.
Masaba By Nykaa Lipstick – Pataka
Another favorite shade of mine, Pataka is a maroonish color and it’s beautiful on lips! Perfect with festive outfits/party looks.
Masaba By Nykaa Lipstick – Femme Fatale
Bold Red Lip Lovers! This is for you. A perfect cool toned red color. iconic that it immediately makes your dazzle!
Masaba By Nykaa Lipstick – Nimbu Pani
This is a stunning color. One of my most favorite from the shades I picked. It suits every skintones too.
Swatches of all shades that I picked
Now that you saw all swatches and close-ups. let’s get more detailed onto the formula, staying power etc.
Shade, Formula, Packaging
I never tried any NYKAA lipsticks before. So, I can’t compare these with that of Nykaa ones. However, I feel shade range is good. From browns to pinks to reds – It has all. Shades suit all skintones and the packaging look attractive too.
The texture of Nykaa X Masaba lipstick is creamy and it glides easily on lips. It does not pull or tug lips while applying.
Pigmentation
I wouldn’t say these are all highly pigmented. While darker shades are pigmented and delivers beautiful color in single strokes. Lighter shade like Cool Guy require multiple swipes to get the color on lips.
Longevity
These are not long lasting either. Staying power is poor. I could see the color easily transferring on to the glasses, cups etc. If you are someone who wouldn’t mind touching up the color multiple times during the day. You’d still want to give this a try. For me. These are complete fail in terms of staying power. It couldn’t survive a brunch or a Indian meal. The color just start to fade away and some darker colors like Femme Fatale, Pataka etc weared off beautifully leaving a stain.
Is it worth buying ?
Now, this is a a very tricky question to answer. The moment I featured them on instagram, I had seen a lot of you commenting on the texture, Nykaa repeats etc. Well, I would personally don’t suggest you to get this lipstick if you already have NYKAA collection of lipsticks with you. Also, If you are looking for matte lipstick – This is not for you either. The formula of these are creamy mattes and they transfer crazily. Each of these retails for 599 INR and from time to time, these comes on offer too on NYKAA. So, If you want to grab atleast one, try waiting for a sale price.
Some of you’d want me to suggest one shade that’s a must try. Then, go for ‘Pataka’ or ‘Nimbu Pani’ ; Both colors are pigmented though they transfers. They last fairy for 5 hours or so without touchups.
