For spring 2016, Tom Ford has so many fabulous products lined up and each one of them is really unique. In this post, I will be focusing on one collection which is the Patent Finish Lip Colors – a lip stain with an ultra glossy finish. Presented in a very unique, easy-to-use click pen with a plush sponge tip applicator. The lip color delivers intense, vibrant color with long-lasting high-shine. I have swatched and reviewed the entire collection for you all.
Tom ford patent finish lip color is a collection of eight lip shades. Its lightweight texture and stay-true color gleams in decadent shades ranging from the bright cherry of no vacancy to the blackened berry of Orchid fatale.
Tom ford patent finish lip color – $52
Packaging – Take a look at the packaging – These Patent Finish Lip Colors come in click pen size with a click dispenser and a plush sponge tip applicator. Initially, when I saw the sponge applicator on one side, I wasn’t sure whether I should use it as it is or should I use a lip brush – While I am not forgetting to mention it as unsanitary from a hygiene perspective, Let me also tell you another point – Any other conventional Lip gloss/lip lacquer sponge applicator wand go straight into the tube containing the product and that would probably be the worst.
Being a click-style product with the slanted applicator where the liquid color flows from (As shown in the picture below).I had to use about 10 clicks initially to get the color and now after first use, product comes after 4-5 clicks. About the ease of application – Sponge tip helps me apply the product around the the curves of my lips with ease. gives that even coverage and help me define the lips without bleeding or spreading the color around lip area staining it.
Consistency, Pigmentation, Formula – The consistency is somewhere between the lip stains and lip lacquers, very very long lasting & high shine glossy finish. The formula feels lightweight upon applying and is easy to apply on lips. The formula gets thicker upon application not sticky at all. It stains the lips beautifully. The coverage is opaque. They feel like a thick gel texture as they glide on, with each stroke delivering intense colour. I didn’t experience feathering or bleeding on any of the shades. As with all Tom Ford lip products there’s a scent to these products as well. A vanilla scent that quickly fades away leaving you with just smooth, juicy colour. The product also didn’t feel sticky on the lips and super comfortable to wear. When it’s the luxurious brand, Tom Ford – I am not surprised that these are very long-lasting. In general most brands high shine glosses doesn’t have a good staying power. This one right here stays on until it’s removed!
Longevity – It has great staying power with the glossiness lasting for about 7 hours and the color staying on for more than 10 hours. very long wearing for a high shine glossy formula like this.
Take a look at the beautiful swatches. I have included the swatches in flash light as well as natural day light.

Overall, the packaging is exclusive to Tom Ford, a click style pen that dispenses the product into a very soft cushioned applicator. I had to use about 10 clicks initially to get the color and now after first use, product comes after 4-5 clicks. I love everything else about the product. It’s non drying formula too. This has got to the be one of the most pigmented lip gloss products I’ve ever seen. They feel like a thick gel texture as they glide on, with each stroke delivering intense colour. It doesn’t bleed into lip lines and it is very moisturizing. Also the lasting power is amazing and eventually the shine wears away and it leaves a gorgeous stain. As with all Tom Ford lip products there’s a scent to these products as well. A vanilla scent that quickly fades away leaving you with smooth, juicy colour. The product also didn’t feel sticky on the lips and super comfortable to wear. A formula that I totally adore! My favorites are Erotic, Orchid Fatale, Stolen Cherry.
